The Espiritus International Video Arts Colony is a community of artists dedicated to focusing the human imagination upon resolving the real, practical and urgent challenges which confront human beings as stewards of all life on this earth.

THE DREAMER: You are an artist at what you enjoy doing, which contributes meaningfully to the community in which you live – as a creator, craftsman and human being. You have skills, experiences and enthusiasm for improving your community at both the practical and cultural levels. Your particular passion(s) are directly applicable to film-making and/or the building and nurturance of community. You have a profound respect for simplicity and cooperation between creative, hard working beings. You think that fresh air, sweet water and living honorably in a natural yet comfortable environment (with other responsible, considerate and loving people), is not only important but essential.

THE DREAM: To create a multi-disciplinary arts community oriented around the audio-visual expression of socially progressive, politically provocative and spiritually rejuvenating ideas and entertainment.

Step 1: Buy a funky but large and serviceable old farmhouse on 10 – 15 hectares of rich farmland, two or three hours from a major city in Argentina. (Buenos Aires is most apparent – a truly creative and thriving nexus – but perhaps Rosario or Cordoba or ???) This farm must be near a major bus route (between tourist destinations), and should be located in a relatively temperate valley. The property needs ample irrigation rights, (and ideally a hot spring), with a good fresh-water well and a stream. It should be on (or cheaply connected to) the electrical grid, and have a small forest or woodlot. (Self-sufficiency – in terms of water, food, fuel, talent and grapes – is a large and enduring consideration.)
